Gilliard, 77, of Holly Hill, South Carolina, who transitioned on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the MUSC Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina. WILLIAM HOWARD GILLIARD LIFE REFLECTIONS
Mr. William Howard Gilliard was born October 9, 1946, and Cross, South Carolina to the late Alfred (Dorothy) Gilliard. He departed this earthly realm on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the MUSC Medical Center.
He attained his early educational foundation at Ebenezer Zion School and later earned his diploma in 1964 from Central High School in Cross, SC. William was an entrepreneur who specialized in carpentry.
In his early age he became a member of Ebenezer Zion A.M.E. Church in Holly Hill, South Carolina. There he served faithfully as chorister of the Ebenezer Zion Male Choir, also a member of the Sons Of Allen, and the Trustee Board.
William was preceded in death by his brother, Nehemiah Gilliard and his sister, Minnie G. Clark.
He leaves to mourn his passing: three sons, Darrel H. (Jessica) Gilliard of Freehold, NJ, Alphonso Gilliard of West Palm Beach, FL, and Timothy F. Gilliard of Wilmington, DE; brother and sisters, Carrie (Hadrick) Husser, Jr. of Cross, SC, Harry (Gloria) Gilliard of Columbia, SC, Joseph (Shaketa) Gilliard of Conyers, GA, Greggory, Johnthan, and Tina Gilliard of Miami, FL, and Raymond Gilliard of Louisiana; a loving sister-in-law, Vernea Gilliard of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Qwamel, Chloe, and Valentina Gilliard; a special niece, Jeradell Gilliard Milton of the home; and nephew, Alphonso Gilliard of Boston, MA. He also leaves to cherish fond memories to a special friend, Gloria P. Jamerson whom he adored, honored, and truly loved; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
