- WILBERT 'DOC' DAVIS LIFE REFLECTIONS -
After a long and prosperous life, the call to eternal peace and rest came to Wilbert Davis (affectionately known as “Doc”) on February 16, 2023, at the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg.
He was born in Holly Hill, South Carolina to the late William and Bessie (Wright) Davis on December 18, 1928. Wilbert was the second of seven children.
Wilbert was educated in the public schools in Holly Hill. He met the love of his life Carrie Mack (who preceded him in death) and were married in 1951. They decided to move to Miami, Florida in 1955 to grow their family.
Wilbert was baptized at an early age at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. Upon relocating to Miami, he became a faithful member of Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an Usher until moving back to South Carolina.
Wilbert gained employment at The University of Miami, where he worked in the Department of Business Services for 35 years. Wilbert also worked for Dade County Court House for 30 years.
After retirement, in 2002 he returned to his roots in Holly Hill. Wilbert renewed his membership at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully until his health prohibited him from attending.
He enjoyed traveling back and forth from Holly Hill to Miami, seeing family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings; Leonard Davis, Angiereen Washington, and Clara Glover.
