Vernell Davis Obituary

Mrs. Vernell W. Davis, the daughter of the late Sarah and Hazel White, was born July 27, 1950 in Holly Hill, South Carolina.  She transitioned into her new home on Friday, March 13, 2020. 

During her former years, Vernell was educated in the public schools of Holly Hill, South Carolina.  She graduated 1969 from Roberts High.

At an early age she accepted Christ at Galilee Christian Church in Holly Hill, SC.  When she relocated to New York, she continued her walk with Christ and attended Second Tabernacle Baptist Church in Harlem, New York and later joined Greater Mont Hermon Institutional Baptist Church in the Bronx, New York.  She served faithfully with the Gospel Choir Ministry.  After 30 years of service, she retired from Citibank, and was content with being a loving homemaker. 

She married Richard Davis of Eutawville, SC and shared a union of over 40 years.  She leaves to cherish her memories:  her loving husband:  Richard Davis; Daughters:  Denella Brown (SC) and Natasha “CheeChee” Davis (SC); Son:  Shelton Davis (NY); Stepchildren:  Richard Davis, Jr. (proceeded her in death), Angela (Joseph) James (SC), Dexter (Vanessa) Ravenell (NC), Kathryn (Leonard, Jr.) Harrison (FL); & Godson:  Chris Davis (SC); Grandchildren:  Kayla Harrison, Deion Brown, Desiree Harrison, Shante James, D'Anthony Ravenell, Leonard Harrison III, Casi Ravenell, Kyla Tomlin, Jayden James and Imani Davis; Great-Granddaughter:  Shaynia Parker. 

Additionally, she leaves to cherish her memories:  her siblings:  Matthew - proceeded her in death (Gloria) White (FL), Betty (Prezzy) Bradley (both proceeded her in death), Carie (Eddie) Montgomery (both proceeded her in death), Jannie (Frank - proceeded her in death) Stewart, (MD), Madeline - proceeded her in death (Benjamin) Gibbs (NY), Mae Ann Smalls (FL), Johnny Lee - proceeded her in death (Grace) White, Omar White (NY), and Eddie (Teri - proceeded her in death) White (SC), Lucy Bowen (SC), Eliza (Edward) Johnson (SC), Nellie Bowen - proceeded her in death, Thomas Bowen - proceeded her in death.

In addition, she also leaves to cherish her memories:  her in-laws:  James Waring -proceeded her in death, Bessie - proceeded her in death (George) Taste (SC), Johnny Davis - proceeded her in death, Isaac - proceeded her in death (Pearl) Davis (SC), Harry (Estelle) Davis (SC), Joe Mack - proceeded her in death, Lucille Mack (SC), Vernell Sweeper (NC), Cleveland - proceeded her in death (Richardine) Davis (SC), Annie (Rev. Bruce) Wright (SC), Lavern Young (TX),  & Leon (Sheila) Davis (SC).  And a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many relatives and loving friends.   

Family and friends may visit the residence at 117 Acme Street, Eutawville, on Thursday, March 19th and Friday, March 20th.
