Theodore Jones Jr. Life Reflections
Theodore “Teddy” Jones Jr. beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2024, while convalescing at his home in Vance, South Carolina.
Teddy as we affectionately called him was the 11th child born to the union of Theodore and Virginia Jones on May 5, 1934, in Yemassee, South Carolina. He was educated in Yemassee and enjoyed his youthful years there. He then migrated to New York, New York in 1950, where he joined and attended White Plains Deliverance Center where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of Christian Love Tabernacle where he served faithfully and was a member of several boards there. Teddy loved the Lord and it showed.
Teddy was employed for many years at Ruckle Pontiac as a mechanic assistant. He then went to work at Reader's Digest for many years until his retirement.
In 1950 Teddy met his first love, the late Sarah “Mary” Rivers and they were married the same year. To this union, 5 wonderful children were born whom he loved dearly.
Upon retirement, Teddy returned to Eutawville, South Carolina in 1998, where he joined Silas United Methodist Church where he sang on the Male Choir. He was a devoted servant until his health began to fail.
Teddy was also a member of the NAACP and The Fishers Of Men. He also found love again and married Mrs. Pernell High Jones in 2022.
To all who knew him, he was a kind-hearted, loving, hard worker, and fun to be around. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Teddy was succeeded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his wife, Pernell Jones of the home; five children, Jeanne Jones of Peekskill, NY, Elizabeth Jones of Sleepy Hollow, NY, Steven Jones of West Palm Beach, FL, Theodore Jones III of Yonkers, NY, and Dawn Jones Bandoo of Kennesaw, GA; two stepchildren, Troy McCullough and Vanessa Green; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren one brother-in-law, Lawton High; one sister-in-law, Carrie Vanagar, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
