Sandral Isaac (Jenkins) McLaurin

Sandral Isaac Jenkins McLaurin, was born on July 9, 1953, to the late Rev. Isaac and Ethel Lee Jenkins in Eutawville, South Carolina. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in Charleston, South Carolina.  

She grew up in Eutawville, SC, and attended public schools there. She graduated Valedictorian of class in 1971. After graduation, she attended South Carolina State College, where she earned a degree in Mathematics.

After graduating from college, Sandral moved to Boston, MA  with her siblings. She was employed at WCVB TV News Channel 5. While there, she met and married Mr. Leroy McLaurin. They were wed in 1977. To this union, 3 children were born. Leroy had 2 sons, Terrence and Leroy prior to their marriage, and Sandral raised them as her own. After several years in Boston, Sandral relocated back to Eutawville in the early 90's. She began teaching in Orangeburg School District 3 and remained there until her retirement.

Sandral loved the Lord. As a child, she attended church with her family and later joined Saint James Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member for many years. She served on the usher board along with her sister-in-law, Joyce Jenkins who preceded her in death. Doll was also preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Jenkins, Sr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: Leroy McLaurin of Boston, MA; 2 sons; Lazarus (Lakeisha) McLaurin, of N, Charleston, SC, and Everett (Nicole) McLaurin of Summerville, SC. One daughter; Larissa (Renaldo) Summers of Charlotte, NC. 3 sisters, Annie B. Gethers, and Shirley E.J. Thornton, both of Eutawville, SC, and Linda (Ellis) Smith of Dorchester, MA. One brother Deacon Lazarus Jenkins, Sr. of Euttawville, SC, 13 grandchildren who affectionally called her Ma Doll, and uncle and aunt;  Rev. and Mrs. Jessie (Margaret) Jamison of Orangeburg, SC, numerous nieces and nephews that she loved as her own, and a  host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
