It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ruth Morton, 75, of New York, who transitioned on Monday, June 05, 2023, in New York. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home. Masks are required.

Ruth Morton Bazemore Life Reflections

Ruth Morton Bazemore of The Bronx, New York, daughter of the late Eddie and Pearline Barr, was born on August 28, 1947. She entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 5, 2023. Ruth (Mook) fought a good battle and now she is rewarded a place in glory with our Lord and Savior.

Ruth (Mook) grew up in Eutawville, South Carolina and she attended the public schools there and graduated from Roberts High School. At an early age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Silas United Methodist Church.

Ruth (Mook) then moved to New York City to pursue a better life. She was employed by the Verizon Communications Company where she worked for many years until her retirement.

Ruth LOVED to travel. She ventured with her family and friends to the Bahamas, Mexico, Hawaii, and Las Vegas, just to name a few. She was also a great cook. She could make five different meals from a single pot of white rice. Ruth loved watching the cooking channel but her favorite pastime was watching the soap operas. Everyone knew not to disturb her while her stories were on.

Ruth loved her son’s Dion and Brandon unconditionally as well as her great nephew Josh. There was nothing that she wouldn’t do for them.

Ruth was a caring, joyful, compassionate and nonjudgmental person. We will miss her kind and gentle soul as well as her warm and tender love.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Freddie Davis and Eddie Lee Barr Jr.

She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories, her sons, Dion and Brandon; her sisters Ann, Jean, and Anitra; a granddaughter, Jasmin; great-nephew, Josh; godchildren, Shelia, Amber, and Derrick; her devoted cousins, Juanita, Wilhelmina, June, and Eddie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins, and friends.
