Ms. Ruby Neomia Broughton (affectionately known as “Dot”), the daughter of the late Joseph Broughton and Emma Johnson Broughton, was born on November 16, 1959, in Eutawville, South Carolina. She was the second of six children. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 2, 2022, at her home.
She received her education in Orangeburg County Public School District. Early in her life, she became a member of the Unity Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served as a member of the Missionary, the Inspirational Choir, and Sunday School until her health began to fail.
Ruby had several hobbies including reading her bible daily, listening to gospel music, and solving crossword puzzles. She loved to pray and prayed over EVERYTHING!
Ruby leaves to cherish fond memories: Her siblings: Mary (Michael) Douglas of Lawrenceville, GA; Deacon Willie (Mary) Broughton of Eutawville, SC; Josephine B. Wartel of Marietta, GA; Michael (Priscilla) Broughton of Aiken, SC; Alphonzo Broughton of Columbia, SC, a bonus sister, Deloris Broughton (Harry) Middleton of Eutawville, SC, and a brother-in-law: Mark Wartel of Douglasville, GA. Thirteen nieces and nephews: Evita (William) McDaniels, Dominique Douglas, Jonae Wartel, Jocelyn Broughton, Christopher (Chanel) Douglas, Shambree Wartel, William (Tiffany, fiancé) Broughton, Michael Broughton Jr., Dr. Kimberly Broughton, Justin Broughton, David (Ieshia) Humphrey, Philip Broughton, and Jonathan Broughton. Five great-nieces and nephews: Jayden and Julian Broughton, Korrin and Zuri Douglas, and Aeron Humphrey. A bonus niece/nephew: Lekisha and Harry Middleton Jr. Four aunts: Rebecca Davis, Sheila Rivers, Doris Johnson, and Ruth Johnson. Three uncles: Richard Johnson, Clarence Johnson, and Wendell Larrymore.
Ruby also leaves a host of relatives and friends who will always cherish her loving memories. The family will not be receiving visitors, but keep them in your prayers. Please adhere to all COVID-19 Precautions and guidelines when visiting the funeral home. Masks are required.
