Rosalee Sanders Johnson was born on December 8, 1927, to the late Derry & Sibbie B. Sanders. On September 26, 2019, God peacefully performed his process of transitioning her to the Stairway of Heaven.
Rosalee grew up in Cross, SC, a small community and attended the public schools. She is the second child of eight siblings. While in Cross, she attended Jehovah AME Church, where she first professed her faith in Christ.
On October 17, 1946, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late John H. Johnson. She then became a faithful member of Ebenezer Zion AME Church of Holly Hill, SC. She served on the Usher Board, the Mazzie Smith Missionary Board, the Senior Citizens Group, the church custodian for over 20 years and a host of other church auxiliaries.
From their union, they were blessed with seven children. They were married for 56 beautiful years. John preceded her in death along with two siblings, Robert Sanders & Lucille Gadson, a grandson, Allen Johnson, Jr. and a great-granddaughter, Shaquana Mack.
Rosalee Johnson was a beautician, midwife, housekeeper and held many other self-employed jobs. She was also employed at Alumax of SC, where she assisted others with jobs.
To those who will cherish her memories, her devoted children: Marion (Cynthia) Johnson of St. George, SC; Allen (Dora) Johnson of Cross, SC; Geno (Michelle) Johnson, Nashville, TN; Jannie (George) Williams, Brenda Mack, Kenneth Johnson and Latrisha Pringle, all of Cross, SC. Three sisters: Evelyn Richardson of Miami FL; Mary Foster of Cross, SC; and Wilhemenia Spann (Charleston, SC). Two brothers Jacob (Anna Lou) Sanders and Silas (Louisa) Sanders of Cross, SC; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three adopted children, Carolyn Clark, Jackie Gadis and Alphonso Gilliard and the family of Hannah Gilliard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and caring friends who will miss her daily.
