Reverend Dr. Verdell Mack was born on March 04, 1953 in Eutawville, SC to Frank and Eldora Bryant Morton Sr. She was one of ten siblings. Verdell transitioned from this life at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Bronx, NY, February 1, 2021.
Verdell received her primary education in the state of South Carolina school system. She later moved to New York with her Husband Reverend Henry Mack Jr., where she completed her professional academics studies. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, from The College of New Rochelle and studied for her master’s at Mercy College.
Additionally, to enhance her gifts in the ministry beside her husband, Reverend Mack completed and received certificates for multiple courses of professional training in religious education from the RHEMA Bible College and received an honorary Doctorate from Global Oved Dei Seminary and University.
Under the tutelage and Leadership of her husband, Pastor Henry Mack Jr; Dr. Mack humbly served with dedication, love, and loyalty as First Lady and ordained Preacher of Gospel Hill Baptist Church,
Bronx, NY. She also served as Gospel Hills Coordinator and Administrator of the Church Outreach Ministry, Sunday School Superintendent, President of Senior Missionary Ministry, New Membership Teacher, and Senior Choir member.
Dr. Mack’s affiliations are many. However, her focus was on that of the Goodwill Baptist Association of Greater New York and Vicinity, wherein she served faithfully most of her adult life as a member and fifteen years as Financial Secretary. Reverend Mack’s professional career included, working as a bank officer at JP Morgan Chase for more than twenty years. After retiring from the bank, she studied psychology and worked as a Residential Coordinator and Manager for organizations like Abbott House and Cerebral Palsy Association of New York State; servicing the developmentally impaired.
Dr. Mack is the President and CEO of her own 501c Non-for-profit Agency, TSIFS Tri-State Integrated Family Services, Inc. TSIFS’ mission is to provide individuals that are developmentally and physically impaired with professional, comprehensive, and creative resource options that will empower them economically, emotionally, and socially. Her dream was to establish a youth facility that will assist in the educational development of children economically and socially in their communities. In doing so, she strongly believed that each generation will be better equipped to deal with the issues of living and maintain a better quality of life. In unity with her life’s love and spouse, Pastor Mack, Dr. Mack’s motto was: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.” Philippians 4:13
She leaves to cherish her loving memory Husband: Reverend Henry Mack Jr. and four children: Jeremiah Fitzgerald Mack which proceeded her in death; Craig Anthony (Victoria) Morton of Columbia, SC; Deionnie (Abraham) Dukuly of Bronx, NY; Courtney (Ezra) Briceson-Beck of Bronx, NY. Siblings: Eugene Morton and Annie Lee Collins which preceded her in death; Mattie Lemon of Florence, SC; Victoria (Charles) Robinson of Columbia, SC; Ethelene Morton of Eutawville, SC; Frank (Carrie) Morton Jr. of Eutawville, SC; Alice Mae (Wilbur) Gadson of Eutawville, SC; Queenie Gibbs of Eutawville, SC; Doris (John) Blake of Goose Creek, SC.
Verdell is also survived by Sixteen grandchildren: Thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. We love you “Auntie Babe” and well done “Mama Mack”.
