Retha Washington

Ms. Retha Washington, 79, of Eutawville, South Carolina transitioned from this life on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at her residence in Eutawville, South Carolina. Retha was born June 21, 1942, to the Late Annie "Tootie " Washington and the Late Mack Hamilton. 

Retha grew up in Eutawville South Carolina and after graduating from Roberts High school, she moved to Brooklyn, New York. At an early age, She joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church. And in 2014, Retha moved back to Eutawville, SC, and rejoined St James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Wayne Shaw. She attended the 8 am services every Sunday until she became ill. 

Retha was known to her family and friends as the "Diva" and "Bam". When she became very ill, she knew that God was in control. Retha would say, "I'm doing OK or I'm doing alright. " indeed she will be missed for her “on point” comments and her zest for life but she's no longer suffering. She's at Peace! 

She is survived by her only dedicated and loving daughter, Michelle Davis, and her devoted, handyman son-in-law, Harry Davis, and her loving, caring and only granddaughter, Jakera Amanda Davis. Her loving and caring brothers,  Sam (Mariah) Washington, William "Bill" (Helen) Washington, Henry "Shot"(Mary) Washington, Andrew "Honey" Washington, and Robert ( Stella) Washington. One devoted and loving sister, Rudy Butler. Dedicated family, friends, and caretakers, Jannie Price,  Elaine Washington Washington, Dedith Palmer, and Daisy Simmons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
