Mother Rena (Weldon) Randolph Life Reflections
Mother Rena (Weldon) Randolph, beloved daughter of the late Jimmy and Amanda Wright Weldon was born March 4, 1920, in Holly Hill, SC. She peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, September 1, 2025 at Transitional Lifecare of Raleigh, NC.
Mother Rena found satisfaction in preparing home-cooked meals, hosting warm family gatherings, and above all, cherishing the love of her family. She lovingly raised and cared for many of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Each one was touched by her warm unwavering devotion, and her legacy will live on in the lives she shaped with tenderness and strength. A self-taught seamstress, she found joy in sewing for her family—each stitch a testament to her love and dedication. She was a compassionate and caring soul, deeply committed to serving others. Mother Rena had a deep passion for indoor gardening. Her garden was far more than a collection of plants—it was a sanctuary of color, fragrance, and serenity. She spent countless hours tending to it with loving care, creating a space that reflected her nurturing spirit.
Another of her greatest joys was visiting homebound individuals alongside the Sisters and Brothers of Job, offering comfort and companionship with quiet grace. Her Christian journey began at Bright Star Baptist Church, and upon her marriage, she moved her membership to Lovely Hill Baptist Church. Later, she became a devoted member of Hill Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith continued to flourish.
She was married to the late Ned Randolph, and together they reared the following children: Eula Grogan, Emma Lee Clark, Sam Watson, Olin Randolph, Walter Randolph, Ellen Sweatman, Carolyn King, John Randolph and five of whom preceded her in death: Miller Randolph, Janie Smalls, George Randolph, Pete Randolph, and William Randolph.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who cherish her memory: Eula Grogan, Emma Lee Clark, Sam Watson, Olin (Mae) Randolph, Walter Randolph, Ellen (Adam) Sweatman, Carolyn King, and John (Lourença) Randolph. She is also lovingly remembered by her son-in-law Johnny Smalls and daughter-in-law Geraldine Randolph. Fifty-four grandchildren, seventy-five great grandchildren, twenty-seven great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and acquaintances.
