Retired Master Sergeant Raymond Michael Sprinkle,US Air Force,
of Holly Hill, South Carolina, was born on June 7, 1946 in New York, NY. He was
granted eternal rest on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 in Holly Hill, SC.
He was the only child of the late Heyward & Annie Sprinkle. Due to their untimely
death, he was raised by the late Ms. Hermie “Sis” Sprinkle, from the age of one.
Raymond accepted Christ into his life at an early age and was a member of Greater
Target African Methodist Episcopal Church in Holly Hill, South Carolina.
Raymond attended Holly Hill Roberts High School, where he met his high school
sweetheart Vera. From there, she became the love of his life. This evolved into a
marriage of 54 years and from this union, two daughters were born.
Raymond joined The Unites States Armed Services, where he served in the United States
Air Force for 21 years, retiring as Senior Master Sergeant. His travels took him to many
amazing places. During his Air Force career, he also worked part time for Roadway
Express as a dock worker, retiring as a truck driver for 20 years. The drivers on the
road knew him as the “Yard Dog”.
Raymond was an avid hunter, fisher, and he loved to garden. In all of these great
pleasures, anything he killed, caught, and grew, he would always share his treasures.
He is survived by his wife Vera Johnson Sprinkle of Holly Hill SC, two daughters:
Jacqueline Sprinkle (Tracy) Bell of Bossier City, LA and Patricia Sprinkle of Shreveport,
LA; three grandchildren: Shontelle Yvette Bell, Traclyn Lashay Bell, and Arianna
Denaisha Evans; one great-grandchild: Emberly Yvette Miller; three godchildren:
Jacqueline L. Dendy of Dacula, GA, Sonya (Vardry) Smith of Simpsonville, SC, and Eric
(Ebonie) Hirst of Fayetteville, GA; two special cousins: Michael Abrahams of Augusta,
GA and Gregg Sellers of Holly Hill, SC; close special friends: Ebenezer (Jacqueline) Hirst of
Bossier City, LA; John Dendy of Greenville SC; Carroll (Sharon) Cheeks of Holly Hill, SC;
Luther (Alma) Turner of Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives
and friends.
