Patricia Young Obituary

Those who have suffered much, have lived long.  Present suffering is not enjoyable, but life would be little without it.  God with his almighty power; who is too wise to make a mistake and too just to do wrong saw fit on Thursday morning January 27, 2022  at 11:15am at home to quietly take the soul of Ms. Patricia Young.
     She was born on December 25, 1953 (68 years old) in Eutawville, S.C to the late Omega Sr & Mamie Lee Young.   Everyone knew her as "Dollie".  She attended Roberts High School in Holly Hill, S.C.  from 1968 to 1972.   She was a member of the Upper Bound Program.  While in school, Dollie earned extra money by being a bus driver in the 11th & 12th grade and working on the family farm.  Upon graduating from high school, Dollie attended South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, S.C.  for a year; majoring in Nursing.  She did not go back the following year, she stayed at home to help take care of her younger siblings.   Dollie loved her family.  
     Dollie became a member of Live Oak A.M.E. Church in Vance, S.C. at an early age.  Where she served faithfully as a past Trustee member and past Secretary of the Pastor's Aide Ministry.  Dollie current roles of the church were Stewardess, Class Leader, President of the Hospitality and Culinary Ministry, Lead singer of the Senior Choir, member of the Mass Choir, Secretary of the Women Missionary Society, member of The Pastor Aide Ministry.  She participated in the church anniversary ; served as the custodian of the church.  Dollie loved the Lord and was always willing to help anyone.
     Dollie participated in early retirement from Family Dollar Store in Orangeburg, S.C.. She made sure everyone had school supplies to go back to school with.  She was a devoted homemaker and her favorite hobby was COOKING !  Her life had an impact on many!  Dollie's speciality was everything , you named it and she cooked it!  Just to name a few,  stew chicken and rice, baked chicken, yellow rice, ham, hoppin Johns, neckbone and rice, collard greens, turkey, mac n cheese, hash and rice & yams with butts meat, etc !    
     She leaves to cherish her precious memories five sisters:  Ms. Patsy Young of Lebanon, Pennsylvania,  Ms. Doris Young of the home, Ms. Carol Young of Dallas, Texas, Ms. Valaria &  Ms. Ophelia Young of Charlotte, N.C.. Five brothers, Mr. Nathaniel Washington of Holly Hill, S.C.,  Mr. Irvin (Laura ) Young of Jersey City, N.J., Mr. Wardaniel, Phillip & Omega Young, Jr. (  Jackson -whom she took care of for 22 years ) of the home.   Dollie did not have any  children, and she helped raise Afeni, Anthony & Monae of Lebanon,  Pennsylvania.   She also helped raise Aki' ( Ga), Gardner (N.Y.), Jalen ( Conway, Arkansas), and Tyler ( Greensboro, N.C.) and they call Dollie, Cha-Chi !  In  Cha-Chi's heart, all of them are her children!  They always look forward to coming home to visit, and calling her in advance for her to cook their favorite meals, including her baby sister, Ophelia !  Dollie also leaves to cherish, one Aunt, Betty Fowler of Eutawville, S.C. whom she loves dearly; a close friend Mrs.  Almetia Gillard of Vance, S.C., close 1st cousins as siblings of Eutawville, S.C. Rudean (Larry), Jacqueline, and Charles Young.   Adopted siblings : Naomi, Evelyn, Teresa, Alfred and Rosabell.   Dollie loved to travel out of the county on cruises with her BFF, Naomi !
     Dollie has nine nieces, twelve nephews, three great-great-nieces, five great-great nephews and a host of adopted nieces and nephews!     Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home.
