Our beloved Mary, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina. Mrs. Mary (Mela) Middleton was born on January 24, 1969 in Holly Hill, SC, to Mrs. Mary Ann Void and the late Harry Lee Rush.
Mary grew up in Santee, SC. She graduated from Holly Hill Roberts High and Trident Technical College. She was a very intelligent young lady, who participated in different school activities, such as Beta Club, Student Council, school pageants, and ran for school president. Mary attended Unity AME Church as a young girl, then later became a member of Target AME Church, where she served as a member of the church choir. She was joined into Holy Matrimony to Timothy Middleton on May 29, 1993. From that special union came three beautiful daughters, whom she loved more than life itself. Mary was a diligent worker and took pride in every job that she was hired to perform. Her most recent employment was with i-Qor in Charleston, SC where she worked for many years.
Mela, as the family would call her, enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. Family gatherings were her favorite pastime. Mela was a woman of integrity, whose family was and is, the center of her universe. Then came Misty, her dog.
