Mariah Gavin Wright

Mrs. Mariah Gavin Wright, of Eutawville, SC, the sixth child of the late McKinley Gavin and Julia Richburg was born on August 10, 1940 in Cross, South Carolina and departed this life after an extended illness March 18, 2020, at Seasons Hospice in Cummings,GA.

She graduated from Roberts High School.

At the age of 13 she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined St. Paul United Methodist Church in Cross, South Carolina. After marriage to the late Richard Meck Wright on September 19, 1959,she was baptized and joined St. James Baptist Church, Eutawville, SC in 1962. She served faithfully as a member of the Gospel and Senior Choirs for many years. She was also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star for more than 50 years.

Mariah worked many years as a professional seamstress until she had to stop working because of poor health. She was a kind, wonderful and caring wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mariah was preceded in death by four sisters: Martha Bell Dantzler, Estell Wise, Lillie Wright and Earnestine Bennett.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Her four daughters Richardine (Ricky) Myers of Jonesboro, GA, Rose (Edward) Dennis of Conyers, GA, Patricia (Barry) Thomas of Fairburn, GA and Joyce (Gregory) Clark of Buford, GA. Three Stepdaughters: Ernell (John) Johnson of Orangeburg, SC, Vernette Holman of Holly Hill, SC; Annie Hudson of Eutawville, SC. Two Stepsons Lawrence Stokes of El Paso, TX and Tyrone (LaSonia) Martin of Goose Creek, SC.Nine grandchildren: Granddaughter raised in the home Shareka (Kenron) Brown of Auburn, GA, Brandon (Ari) Dennis of Covington, GA, Matthew (Raven) Myers of Norcross, GA, Anthony Shiron Myers of Hampton, GA, Ricardo Myers of McDonough, GA, Devin Dennis of Conyers, GA, Tiffany Myers of Hampton, GA and Brianna (Quantez) Gibson of Covington, GA and Arlene (Preston) Henderson of Sugar Hill, GA; 17 Great-Grand Children. Mother-in-law Carrie Wright. Sisters Rilla Blowe of Cross, SC, Pernell (Marion) Pringle of Ridgeville, SC and Rebecca (Louis) Waiters of Cumberland, Rhode Island. Brothers: Eddie (Wilhemenia) Gavin of Cross, SC and Leroy (Blondell) Gavin of Cross, SC.  Sister-in-laws:Jessie Walker of Goose Creek, SC, Rose Middleton of Eutawville, SC, Debra Macon of Raleigh, NC, Elizabeth Hall of Cross, SC.Brother-in Laws: Johnny (Vernell) Wright, Sr. of Vance, SC, John A (Mattie) Wright of Oklahoma City, OK, Paul (Oneatha) Wright of Eutawville, SC, Peter (Mamie) Wright of Eutawville, SC, Benjamin (Joyce) Wright of Holly Hill, SC, Joseph (Charlotte) Wright of North Charleston, SC, Harry Wright of Eutawville, SC, Nathaniel(Barbara) Wright of Greenville, NC.
