Louise Washington

Louise Stewart Washington, the daughter of the late Willie (Rollie) Stewart and Rebecca Pelzer Stewart was born October 21, 1927 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. She departed this life at 91 years old on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. South Carolina.

She was educated in the Orangeburg County public schools and graduated from Roberts High School, Holly Hill, SC in 1974 through the Adult Education Program.

At an early age, Mrs. Louise accepted Christ and became a member of her family-church Felderville A.M.E. Church in Santee, SC and later became a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, Eutawville, SC where she was the “Mother of the Church.” Additionally, Mother Washington served diligently in several capacities during her membership to include the Pastoral Relations Ministry, Missionary Ministry, Senior Choir, and the Gospel Choir.

She married the late Eddie Washington on May 1, 1942; to this union nine children were born. Her daughter Mary Louise Felder James, and sons, Eddie Jr., Edward and James (Scoopy) all preceded her in death. She had only one sibling, Agnes Stewart Profit who also preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Elder Essie Martin of Hopkins, SC and Marie Washington (Lionel) Johnson of Gainesville, FL; three sons. Deacon Willie Jake (Shirley) Washington, Jimmie Washington, and Karl (Essie Marie) Washington all of Eutawville, SC; daughters-in-law, Diane Springs Washington of Lexington, SC and former daughter-in-law: Jannie R. Washington; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; one granddaughter raised in the home, Dr. LaWanda Felder of Eutawville, SC; one uncle: Arthur Stewart of St. Matthews, SC; adopted daughter, Richardine Davis; adopted sister, Pearl Davis; special niece and nephew: Alice Goodwine and Elijah Profit, Jr., in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and loving friends.
