Sis. Loretta Spann, daughter of the late Mabel Spann-Dudley was born on September 28, 1956 in Philadelphia, PA. She departed this life on Thursday, March 5, 2020 in Cross, SC.
She was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and graduated in 1975.
Loretta later moved to New York and was employed with Ford Motor Company for over 10 years and later with Orion Jewelry. While in New York she was a faithful member of Fort Motte Baptist Church from 1996-2006. Then a member of Union Grove Baptist Church from 2006-2017, where she served on the choir and the Pastor Aide Committee.
She later returned home to Cross, where she rejoined Jehovah AME Church and attended faithfully. She was a member of the Richard Allen Young Adult Choir, worked with the Summer Feeding Program and was chairperson of the Women’s Conference and Choir Explosion.
Loretta was also former President of the Spann Family Reunion Committee.
Loretta loved life and enjoyed spending time with family and loved ones. She loved hosting and entertaining family and friends. In addition, she loved to travel and has been to Europe, the Caribbean, and enjoyed several cruises. Her most recent vacation was a cruise to Italy, Barcelona, and Madrid with some of her best friends. She was a fashion icon with her own unique style.
Loretta cherished and loved the family dog Rex who will miss her dearly.
Loretta was married to the late Kelvinton Henry for 18 years.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her son, Tyrone Spann; her daughter, Denise Henry; her three grandchildren, Bryanna Brown, Tyshawn Spann, and Sarai Sealy; her brothers, Mychal S. Dudley, Randolph C. Dudley, and Mark S. Dudley; her aunts, Evelyn Spann Richardson, Carrie B. Spann, Martha D. Spann, and Annie Lee Spann. In addition, she leaves twenty first-cousins whom she loved dearly: Altouise, Louis, Geraldine, Ann, Yvonne, Steve Jr., Jeffery, Mary Patricia, Anthony, Sandra, Charlie Jr., Kenneth, Calpurnia, Hilda, Iona, Alfredia, Terry, Wayne, Andrew, and Clifford; her lovely godchild, Kaylinn Lisbon; her dedicated caretaker, Cynthia Anderson; her close friends, Rubysteen Major, Yvonne Bradley, Catherine Wilson, Cynthia Jones, Jackie Ferguson, and Adrian Pinckney; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
