Loner Melvin Wright, affectionately known as “Alonzo,” the son of the late Wesley Wright, Sr., & Eva L. Brown Wright, was born in Holly Hill, South Carolina on October 13, 1937. He attended Central High School (Cross High School) in Cross, South Carolina.
He was a faithful member of Ebenezer Zion AME Church prior to moving to Bronx, New York. He later rejoined upon moving back to South Carolina in 2001.
After relocating to Bronx, New York, Alonzo met the love of his life, Clishie McGee and the two were united in holy matrimony on February 24, 1968. Alonzo hailed from a huge family! He was one of ten children; seven boys and three girls. His heart and love for everyone around him was just as big as the family he grew up in! He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off of his back. If he saw that you were in need, he would not hesitate to help in any way he could. He was an absolute beacon of compassion!
