Leroy Ravenell, Sr.

Born on November 1, 1949 to the late James and Asalee Ravenell in Cross, SC, Deacon Leroy  Ravenell, Sr. had a full life of peace and love. He lived his life accordingly to Psalm 37:23: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” His physical form departed the realm of this earth on July 4th, 2020.

On an even more personal note, his life changed on August 6, 1972 as he joined in holy matrimony to his best friend, Rena M. Lambright.  They were married for 47 years and they were  blessed with three wonderful children and four lovely grandchildren.  The memory and legacy of Leroy’s life will forever live on through his family in their walk through life.  He leaves behind to cherish his fond memories: his wife, Mrs. Rena Mae of the home; his children, Tamarra, Leroy Jr., and Jessica, of Cross, SC.  Four grandchildren: Lemondre, Destinee, and Avery of Cross, SC, and Arianah Ravenell of Orangeburg, SC.  Leroy was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Ravenell, of Cross, SC; Six siblings: Julie Owens of Summerville, SC; Charles (Helen) Ravenell of Cross, SC; Lillie Doctor of Eutawville, SC; Rosa Lee Ravenell of Summerville, SC; Jeanette Ravenell, of Cross, SC; and Joseph Ravenell of Nashville, TN.  He also leaves to cherish a devoted mother-in-law, Carrie B. Lambright of St. Stephen, SC.  He is also leaving behind a loving extended family: Dollie Ann (Royal) Cummings of Timmonsville, SC; Pearl Mitchell of Columbia, SC; Elizabeth (Alphonso) Benekin of Pineville, SC; Julius (Roxanne) Lambright of Murrells Inlet; Evelyn (Reginald) President of Cross, SC, and Patsy Stevens of St. Stephen, SC.  Five aunts, Mary Jane Ramsey of Cross, SC and Lee Ramsey of Augusta, GA; Fannie Blount, of Blythewood, SC; Evelyn Gethers of Moncks Corner, SC; Isadora Lambright of Blythewood, SC, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
