Kerins Washington Jamison passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023, at the age of 86. Kerins was born in Vance, South Carolina on August 17, 1937, to Lucille Clark and Booker T. Washington. Her early childhood was spent in Vance, South Carolina, where she attended school in Vance, South Carolina, Orangeburg County School District. In 1950 she met and married the love of her life, George Jamison, and from this union, they were blessed with a son, George Jamison, Jr. In 1954, seeking a better life for their family, they moved to White Plains, New York. Her employment included working for a Laundry Company and several families providing home care. She joined the Mount Hope African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in 1956 under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Ralph W. Gullette. Kerins joined the Senior Usher Board under the leadership of the late Edward Crawford and began working on many activities and programs. Some of her favorites were the very first Christmas Celebration for the homeless clothing drives, Thanksgiving meals for the homeless, the Table of Grace, fundraisers, and her work with the Missionary Department. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She doted on her family and was happiest when her family surrounded her. Family and friends loved her sweet potato pies and her cornbread. Kerins was a wonderful sister and friend and blessed many families when they were sick, and would share what she had with others especially those in need.
