It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Keith Vanager, of New York, who transitioned on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, New York. KEITH VANAGER LIFE REFLECTIONS
Keith Vanager was born September 17, 1962, at Peninsula General Hospital in Far Rockaway, NY. He was the second child to Carrie Vanager and the late Sammie Vanager. Keith grew up in Rockaway Beach, NY with his parents and siblings Pervis Vanager and Bridget Cave. He departed this earthly life on June 8, 2023 at St. John's Episcopal Hospital.
Keith received his education from the NYC Public School system graduating with his diploma from Beach Channel High School. After high school he enrolled in South Carolina State University where he also enlisted in the U.S. Army. It was in the military where he launched his lifelong career in the Food Service industry. Keith loved cooking more than anything in this world. His culinary skills included knife skills, carving, cooking, baking, plating, and presentation. He held various jobs in the culinary industry including: Daytop Village, Services for the Underserved, and the latter LSG Sky Chef. He also took up the trade of barbering. Keith was indeed known to be a jokester.
He was baptized and a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Rockaway Beach, NY under many different leaders. At New Hope he served as a member of the Sensational Male Chorus.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sammie Vanager along with both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Keith leaves to cherish his mother, Carrie Vanager, two siblings: Pervis (Debra) Vanager and Bridget (Craig) Cave; four children: Dewayne (Sadia) Vanager, Jannie Bunch, Yakeifah Vanager, and Sennet Vanager; seven grandchildren: Amira Vanager, El'ijah Vanager, El'isha Vanager, Royal Davis, A'mazen Royal, Kali Mickens, and Desire Williams and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
