Julia Mae Davis Life Reflections

Julia grew up in the towns of Holly Hill and Cross, S.C. Where she attended the public schools. She graduated from what was then, known as Central High School in Cross, SC. In the process of time, she relocated to New York City and furthered her education at the American Business Institute, Bronx, NY. In 1976, she became employed as a receptionist at the office of Robert Abrams, The Attorney General for the State of New York. She was employed there for many years until her health began to fail.
Julia was affectionately known as "Mother Davis" and was loved by many who enjoyed her presence dearly. At an early age Julia became a member of her family church, Briner Christian Church, in Holly Hill, SC. After relocating to New York, she became a member of First Baptist Church in Manhattan, NY for many years and later a member of the Canaan Land Apostolic Church of Christ in NYC. Julia was gifted and loved to sing. She sang on various choirs and later organized a gospel group called the "Gospel Soulettes." For many years they sang throughout New York and South Carolina. She also worked faithfully on the Missionary and Usher Boards as well as youth choir President.
Julia was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Wilson Davis Jr. for many years.
Julia was preceded in death by her sister, Jevenia Lee and two brothers, Limous and George Ritter.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one sister, Mary (Bishop Robert) Gethers; two brothers, Deacon Marion Ritter of Hallandale, FL and Clarence Ritter Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL; two goddaughters, Donna Gedeon of Brooklyn NY and Ebonee Valdez of Goose Creek, SC; spiritual daughters: Angela Carter of Holly Hill, SC, Sis.
