It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. John D. Smalls, 77, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, who transitioned on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at his residence in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, surrounded by his loving family. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home. Masks are recommended, but not required.


John D. Smalls Life Reflections

Mr. John Dwayne Smalls was born October 9, 1947 to Lily Mae Smalls and the late Frank Bennett in Cross, South Carolina. John entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 28, 2025 peacefully at his home in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. At an early age he joined Zion U.M. Church.

John graduated from Central High School in 1966 with honors. Immediately after graduation he entered the United States Air Force and served his country gracefully as SGT. He was released from Active Duty March 6, 1970 with an Honorable Discharge. John moved to New York City where he met and married the love of his life Anna Brown June in 1972. They were blessed with one son, Dwayne Smalls. 

John worked as a Sale Associate for many companies and did an awesome job.

John leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Anna Brown-Smalls; one son, Dwayne Smalls both of Brooklyn, NY; his loving mother, Lily Mae Smalls of Cross, SC; two sisters, Myree (Jerome) Woodward of Summerville, SC and Alicia Bennett of Beaumont, TX; his loving cousins reared as brothers: Albert (Lillie) Smalls, James (Albertha) Sanders, Leroy (Mozell) Brown, Paul (Anita) Brown, and Moses (Shirley) Brown; sister-in-law, Lula Mae Smalls; three aunts,  Beatrice McCray, Thelma Bennett, and Martha Bennett; four uncles, Tom Bennett, Henry (Rachel) Bennett, Johnny Bennett, and Leon Bennett; two godchildren, Aubrey Washington and Djnuell Williams; loving cousins, Gregory Johnson, Donald Johnson, Wayne (Nicolette) Smalls, Kenya (Julie) Coleman, Mabel Williams, and Teresa McCray; two beloved friends, Yvonne Wilson and Vera Frazier; his personal barber, Louis Spann; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
