It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. John Gethers, 76, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, who transitioned on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at his residence in Moncks Corner, surrounded by his loving family. John Gethers Life Reflections

John Wesley Gethers, the son of the late Wesley Gathers and Mary Lee Taste Gathers, was born on October 14, 1947, in Orangeburg County. He departed this life on September 17, 2024, at the residence of Alton and Bessie Hood in Moncks Corner SC.

John Wesley graduated from Roberts High School of Holly Hill, SC in 1967. He became a member of Silas United Methodist Church which he attended until he moved away to Boston.

John Wesley was preceded in death by, his father, Wesley Gathers; mother, Mary Lee Taste Gathers; two brothers, Henry Gathers and Jacob Johnson; and two brothers-in-law, McArthur Howell and Harrison Middleton.

John Wesley leaves to cherish his precious memories: his children, Keisha Nolen, Kevin Nolen, Terrence Nolen, Shannon Bass Edward, and Darrell Jones; his siblings, St. Clair G. Middleton, Williemae (William) Halls, Eddie (Bertha) Gathers, Bessie (Alton) Hood, Martha Howell, Betty (John) Ferguson, Eva (Rev. Micheal) Gilbert, Freezie (Walter) Omarde, Shiela (Willie Hall) Gathers, Andrew (Gwendolyn) Gathers, and Jeffery (Laniece) Gethers; two sisters-in-law, Betty High Gathers and Jessie Lee Johnson; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one uncle, Moses Brown; special friend, Deacon Glen Wood; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
