Jestine President Richburg, affectionately known as ''Jesse'' was born November 17, 1937, to the late Francis and Mary President of Cross, South Carolina. She departed this life on Monday, March 13, 2023, at her residence. Jestine grew up in Cross, South Carolina, and attended Berkeley County Public Schools.
In 1959, Jestine married Waymond Richburg, Sr., and moved to New York. Unto this union, eight children were born; one preceded her in death. Jestine and Waymond resided in New York for several years before moving back to Cross, South Carolina. Jestine was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church and attended faithfully until her health started to decline. For many years, she worked as a domestic worker for various people in the community. Throughout the Cross community, Jestine was well known for cooking and baking; especially her famous Red Velvet cake. Some of her favorite activities included watching wrestling with her late brother Francis President, Jr., watching the Young and Restless, talking on the telephone, and spending time with family and friends over Sunday dinner. She also loved her hats!
Jestine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Florence Bullard, her sister, Nancy Glover, and her brother, Francis President, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: seven children; Sharon West of Cross, Waymond (Stacy) Richburg, Jr., of West Ashley, Dennis Richburg of Moncks Corner, JP (Cynthia)Richburg of Cross, Georgia (Jeremiah) Middleton of Eutawville, Reginald (Temple) Richburg of Columbia, and Donnel (Rachelle) Richburg of Moncks Corner. One son-in-law, Arthur Bullard of Newburgh, New York. One brother, Peterson (Rachel) President. Two sisters, Ruth Johnson, and Lucy Bennett. Sisters-in-law, Azalee President, Christina (Wilson) Myers, Carrie Gilliard, Pearl Hallamon, Betty Rchburg, Shirley (Jerome) Johnson, and Gene Middleton. One aunt, Sherrie Aiken, 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
Family and friends may visit the residence at 1008 Richburg Circle, Cross, SC 29436 from 12 NOON - 8:00 P.M. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home. Masks are required.
