Reflections of Life
Janet Allen the daughter of the late Edward Grant and the late Eva Mack Jamison was born January 12,1946 in Brooklyn, New York. She entered into eternal rest on December 10, 2020 in Charleston, South Carolina. Janet attended Robert High School in Holly Hill, S.C. in which she participated in the marching band & played the clarinet. She later moved to New York where she furthered her education in various trades including cosmetology, floristry, and telecommunication. She retired from Verizon after over 40 years of service. During retirement, she worked at Google with great pride & dedication.
She was a devoted member of Bright Light C.O.G.I.C in Brooklyn, New York where she accepted Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. Upon retirement, she reunited with Rock Hill A.M.E Church in Vance, South Carolina. She served on the Usher Board and was recently voted the “Most Sophisticated Lady” of the congregation at a recent Members Award Ceremony.
She was an extremely loving and generous woman who had a heart of gold towards family and friends alike. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and sharing stories of childhood memories. She was known for her eccentric fashion style and could always be found modeling the biggest hat at any gathering.
She is predeceased by her husband of over fifty years Johnie Allen Sr.; and siblings: Minus Allen Jr.,Thaddus Allen; Eleonora Allen; Joey Felder; James Brown and Calvin James.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children Johnie Allen, Jr., and Jennifer Precious Patten (Arnold); grandchild Arnold J. Patten III; beloved sister Judy Grant; sister-in-laws Elease Brown, Alberta Salley, Retta Kearse (Leroy), Evella Gadson (James), Ronnie Felder and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
