On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, as the morning sun began to rise, our Heavenly Father called him home to rest.
Mr. James Goodwin Jr. was born August 30, 1941, in Vance, South Carolina to the late Mr. Whittaker Goodwin and Mrs. Lula White Goodwin-Powell.
On June 11, 1964, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Lula Bell Davis Goodwin. To this union, five children were born with Adrian, Emmanuel, and Eunice Goodwin preceding him in death.
At an early age, James joined Live Oak A.M.E. Church. He was a great family man and made friends with everyone whom he met.
James joined the Army on November 17, 1963, and was deployed to Vietnam. Upon returning home he took up employment as a long distant truck driver. In time he developed his own trucking business until he retired in 2004.
James leaves to cherish his precious memories: a daughter, Sharon (Anthony) Oriente; a son Michael (Cynthia) Goodwin; five granddaughters, Briana (Donny), Ashley, Nicole (Johnny), Cassandra, and Amanda; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Genevieve Ash and Geralease (John) Green; one brother Walter (Peggy) Goodwin; two sisters-in-law, Earlene Washington, and Annie Goodwin; one aunt Leona Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
