It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Isaac Gavin, 69, of Worcester, Massachusetts who transitioned on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Family and friends may visit the home of, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry and Alice Gavin on Sunday, February 5, 2023 and Monday, February 6, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home. Masks are required.

Isaac Gavin, the son of the late Ernestine Gavin Bennett and the late Leroy Davis, was born September 18, 1953, in Cross, South Carolina.  Isaac was raised by his maternal grandmother, the late Julia (Sweetie) Richburg Gavin and departed this life on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at his home in Worcester, MA.

Ike, as he was affectionately known by his Southern family and friends, received his early education in the schools of Berkeley County but would later graduate from Dorchester High School in Dorchester, MA after relocating there with his grandmother.  In high school, he played football and basketball.  He went on to earn an Associate Degree in Communications from Graham Junior College in Boston, MA.       

Isaac returned to South Carolina to further his education at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC.  He also served in The National Guard.  His love for the city would soon lead him back North where he would settle in Worcester, MA.

Isaac worked several jobs to include AT &T, MCI, and Verizon. However, his passion for carpentry would lead him to own and operate Gavin Carpentry.

Early in life, Ike attended St. Paul Methodist Church (now Greater St. Paul UMC) with his grandmother Sweetie, but later joined Emanuel Baptist in Worcester, MA where he served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Richard Wright until his illness.  Isaac demonstrated his love for the Lord by giving of his time through helping his church and church families with various projects. 

Isaac wasn’t shy when it came to sharing a word with others about the goodness of God. He was the Author of two published books “God knows and God Speaks” and “The Anointed Assassin”. Because of his love for family, Ike was very instrumental in supporting The Gavin Family Picnic, which brought family members together annually prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Isaac was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a son, Rashard Gavin; and two brothers, Curtis & Michael Bennett.

Those left to cherish fond memories are his children: Nya Gavin and Kai Gavin both of Dorchester, MA; three brothers: Walter Bennett of Kingston, NY, Ronald (Marjorie) Bennett of Brooklyn, NY, and Lorenzo Gibbs Sr. of Charleston, SC; two sisters: Gloria (Phillip) Frank-Daniels of Lithonia, GA and Barbara Huggins of Acworth GA; his aunts and uncles: Eddie (Wilhemena) Gavin, Leroy (Blondell) Gavin, Rilla Blowe, Pernell (Marion) Pringle, and Rebecca Waiters; two cousins reared in the home with him: Pearline Dingle and Robert “Bobby” (Julie) Gavin;  nieces, nephews, and other family members who loved and adored him.
