Deacon Herman Fuller, Sr. Life Reflections
Deacon Herman Fuller, Sr., born on March 5, 1952, in Eutawville, SC, to the late Andrew D. Fuller, Sr., and Sarah Bell Fuller, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
A lifelong resident of the Eutawville community, Herman was baptized at an early age and became a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Vance, SC. Over the years, he demonstrated unwavering commitment to the church, being ordained into the Deacon's Ministry in 1994 after several years of dedicated service as a trustee and church sexton. His contributions extended to the Men's Chorus, the Usher Board, and he played a pivotal role in establishing the Annual Men's Fellowship.
Herman was an esteemed delegate for the Orangeburg Calhoun Baptist Association and the Santee Missionary Union, and he actively participated in the Sunday School Educational Union. His leadership was further exemplified through his service as a board member of the Orangeburg Calhoun Baptist Sunday School Convention.
With a profound passion for youth development, Herman invested significant time and energy in guiding the young members of his church. He was a cornerstone of Youth Bible Studies and the Youth Music Ministry and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, shaping the spiritual growth of countless young individuals.
Professionally, Herman dedicated 48 years to the Orangeburg County Consolidated Schools District 3 before continuing his service in the Dorchester County School System at Boulder Bluff Elementary School, where he worked for an additional two years before retiring in 2023.
Herman Fuller, Sr.'s life was a testament to his devotion to his family and his church, embodying a legacy of faith, service, and unwavering dedication.
Herman was joined in matrimony to Hester Lee Void in December 1982. Herman and Hester (Eva) are the proud parents of Lynette, Joshua, Sarah, and Herman Jr. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Sarah Bell Fuller, siblings, Lillie, Charles (Andrew), and John.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Hester; daughters, Lynette Harrison (Leroy) and Sarah Fuller Oliver (Corey); sons, Joshua Fuller (Dedra) and Herman Fuller, Jr.; grandchildren, Delandis Void, Judge Jones, Yakonna Harrison, Jalen Fuller, Kamari Washington, Julian Fuller, Christian Fuller, Makayla Rush, and Kirsten Rush; a great granddaughter, Jianni M. Jones; sisters, Pearl Fuller of Bridgeport, CT and Sandrew Fuller of Eutawville, SC; brothers, Harry Fuller (Geneva) of Bridgeport, CT, Elias A. Fuller (Delores) of Bridgeport, CT, and Ernest Fuller (JoAnne) of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Fuller of Bridgeport, CT, Irene Williams of Vance, SC, and Lillie Void of Santee, SC; brothers-In-law, John Void (Karen) and Willie Void all of Santee, SC; nieces, Patricia, Lorretta, Eliza, Gena, Janelle, Toyka, and Frances; nephews, Phillip, Andrew, John, and Thelonious; two sisters-in-love, Annie Jenkins and Leanna Palmer; and a host of other nieces and nephews, and relatives.
