Harvey Hobdy Sr., son of the late James Hobdy Sr. and Ammie G. Hobdy was born on March 03, 1951, in Washington, DC.  He departed this life at his home in Orangeburg, South Carolina on Friday, September 19, 2025.

He attended St. Paul & St Augustine School, Lincoln High School and Macken Catholic High School. Upon graduating from High School Harvey held numerous jobs. He was employed with the Congressional Country Club of Potomac, Maryland, The White Hall Condo Apartments of Potomac, Maryland and he worked as a regional maintenance engineer for KFC in South Carolina for several years. He was married to the late Vondaleria Butler.

Harvey relocated to South Carolina in 2000 where he remained until his death. Harvey was a humorous person. He would have you laughing all day long with his jokes and long-winded stories.  He was truly the life of the party. He was fun, loving and kind. There was nothing he would not do for his family. He loved his children and his family, and he was very passionate about spending time with family.

Harvey was proceeded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Watts and Mary Elizabeth Hobdy; and one brother, James Hobdy Jr.

Harvey has ascended to be present with the Lord, but his memories will forever be cherished by his daughter, Bianca Butler; his sons, Harvey Hobdy Jr., and Raheem Hobdy all of Washington, DC; two grandchildren of the home, Tyiana Butler and Deonie Daniel; fourteen grandchildren from Washington DC, Angelina, Angelica, Jayla, Taurean, Zaquan, Sincire, Clayton, Michael, Julia, Shawn, Deshawn, Demontre, Trinity, and Jadarius; one sister, Maria James of Washington, DC; one brother, Alfred Hobdy of Eutawville, SC; one aunt, Ernestine Gadson of Eutawville, SC; two uncles, Thomas Wearing of Eutawville, SC and Moses Craig of Washington, DC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
