Gerald Jenkins, the son of the late Prince and Bessie Jenkins was born on May 31, 1947, in Eutawville, South Carolina.
Gerald grew up with his parents and seven siblings in Eutawville, South Carolina and was educated in the Orangeburg County Public School System. Gerald attended Denmark Technical College where he studied Brick Masonry.
Gerald met and married the late Rebecca Butler Jenkins in 1971. To that union two children (Spencer and Natasha) were born.
Gerald became a Master brick mason at a very young age. At the age of 24 he started the Jenkins Construction Company in 1971. He was passionate and dedicated to his craft which led to a successful company spanning over three decades.
Being a kind and dependable person was of the utmost importance to him. He did not disappoint when it came to being there for his loved ones. He was known for giving all his friends and family a nick name and forever greeted you by this "nickname" with a smile.
He leaves to cherish wonderful memories: his children, Spencer (Chiquet) Jenkins, Natasha (Bill) Cooper, Donald (Sandra) White, and Christina (Joe) Shuford; six grandchildren, Kalil Jenkins, Kamauri Jenkins, Savannah Cooper, Detron Gethers, Dontrell Gethers and Dynadra White; one brother, Elias (Vernell) Jenkins; three sisters, Emily (Harold) Harris, Gloria Jenkins, and Mamie Lee Ellis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
