George Desesaure Life Reflections
Mr. George Desesaure, son of the late James Harold Sr. and Josephine Dessesaure, was born in Eutawville, SC on February 22, 1939. He departed this life on January 24, 2023 in Columbia, SC. At an early age, George was baptized and became a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.
When he was 16 years old, his Uncle Jake and Aunt Nora Desesaure invited him to come spend the summer with them in Greenburgh, NY. He enjoyed his summer so much that he decided to make a life for himself in Elmsford, NY. He lived there for almost 60 years. He was socially active in the community and became friends with others who had migrated from the Eutawville, SC area. George was affectionately known as “Big D”. George was fast-talking, loud, and loved to laugh. He was employed by the White Plains school system and was also an entrepreneur. When his health declined, he moved to Columbia, SC to reside with his family. He remained optimistic and exercised on a daily basis.
Preceded him in death were his brothers James (Boot) Desseau and Willie (Rat) Dessesaure and sisters: Sue Peters, Minnie Williams, and Queen Esther Gray.
George is survived by: his former wife, Lillie M. Desesaure and children, Yvette Desesaure, Jeffery (Valerie Jackson, and Gloria Sanders.
