It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Evelyn King, 85, of Vance, South Carolina who transitioned on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Roper Hospital. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home.
Evelyn King Life Reflections
On January 3, 2025, God, in His infinite power and wisdom, called home to Glory one of His most devoted servants. Mrs. Evelyn King. She was 85 years old and is now resting in the eternal peace of the Lord, surrounded by the love and grace that she gave so freely during her life.
Evelyn was born on February 25, 1939, in Eutawville, South Carolina, to the late Mr. James and Mrs. Elzer Fuller. She was the fifth of seven children in the Fuller family. From a young age, she demonstrated a heart of service, both to her family and her community. She was baptized early in life and became an active member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where she served with great devotion on the Usher Board.
On September 5. 1960. Evelyn was united in holy matrimony to her beloved husband, Robert King Jr. Together, they were blessed with six children. Elaine King (daughter) preceded her in death.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Evelyn was a cornerstone in her family. She poured love into each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating a legacy of faith, kindness, and service. She was a strong woman of unwavering faith, raising her family with the same values that guided her own life.
Evelyn graduated from Roberts High School, earning her diploma in 1959. She was a seamstress, designing fashionable wears for her family, friends, and many community members. She loved gardening, cooking, and taking care of her physical needs. You can spot her walking early in the mornings or late in the evening around the 'block where she lived.
Evelyn's legacy will live on in the hearts of her surviving family members, including her devoted husband, Robert King, Jr., her loving children: a daughter, Diane King of Eutawville, SC; a son, David (Laverne) King of Eutawville, SC; another son, Marvin (Sylvia) King of Eutawville, SC; another daughter, Edith (Sammie) Guess, of Raeford, NC, and another son, Robert (Jeronica) King III, of Santee, SC. She is also survived by Lucille Denmark of Wando, SC who was raised up as a sister.
She was predeceased by two brothers, James Fuller and Jesse Fuller; and four sisters, Josephine Brooks, Anna Doctor, Millie Gadson, and Carolyn King. She leaves behind a god-daughter, Elaine King of Eutawville, SC; a grandson who was raised in the home, Bruce King, of Eutawville, SC; and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth King of Columbia, SC. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives, along with 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was a woman of faith and strength. She will live on in the hearts and minds of all those who knew her.
