Elijah High, Jr

Elijah High, Jr was born on July 17, 1969, in Eutawville, SC. He is the son of Ruthie High and the late Elijah High, Sr. He transitioned to be with the Lord into eternal peace, joy and rest on Sunday, January 23,2022 at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, SC after an extended illness.

Elijah attended Orangeburg County public schools in Holly Hill, SC. He graduated from Holly Hill Roberts High School and Denmark Technical College in Denmark, SC.

Elijah was a member of Silas U.M. Church in Eutawville, SC and later became a devoted member of Community Prayer Life Center in Eutawville, SC.

Elijah had a love for encouraging young men to work hard and take care of family. He had a love for helping others in need. He loved and accepted everyone into his family. Those who knew and loved him will cherish his memories forever.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Jefferey Washington and Kathy Middleton.

Left to cherish Elijah’s memories are: his devoted wife of 29 years Kathy Staley-High, mother Ruthie (Carl) Levine, two daughters Katavia Staley of Goose Creek, SC and Katrinda Staley of Atlanta, GA, a son Brandon (Tequila) Morton of Greensboro, NC, three grandchildren who he loved dearly: Omari “Mari” and Omiya “Princess” Morton of Greensboro, NC and Jhamir  “Spiderman” Staley of Goose Creek, SC.

Siblings: Tony (Mary) Boyd, Cynthia (Anthony) Middleton of Cross, SC, Pamela High of Summerville, SC, Ervin High and Michael High of Eutawville, SC, Kenya (Evelyn) High of Holly Hill, SC, Corey Middleton of Florence, SC, Annette King of Brooklyn, NY, Carl (Robin) Keitt of Santee, SC. Sisters in law Beverly Fritz of Greenville, SC Everlyn Staley of Holly Hill, SC and Danequia (Joey) Taiste of Cross, SCm brothers in law Andrew Staley, Jr. of Holly Hill, SC and Justin Staley of Irvington, New Jersey. Goddaughters: Jenniquia Collier of Holly Hill, SC, Da’shirelle Washington of Atlanta, GA, Juane and Ramiya Bookhart of Eutawville, SC. Godmother Betty Fowler and godbrothers: Sedrick, Lamone and Betty Fowler. Three devoted nephews reared in the home: Dwendell “ Dennis the Menace” High of Summerville, SC, Johnathon “Ross (Morenco) Staley of Atlanta, GA, and Jermariez “Busta” (Victoria) Green of San Antonio, Texas. Special friend/brother Bert (Lisa) Ingram, special cousins Evelyn Bell of Columbia, SC and Angelina Doctor of Ladson, SC and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins along with many friends who loved him dearly.
