It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Delphine Ann McCray, 59, of Cross, South Carolina, who transitioned on Monday, June 17, 2024, at her residence in Cross, SC. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home.
Delphine Ann McCray Life Reflections
Delphine Ann McCray, affectionately known as “Poochie” the daughter Benjamin and Carrie Jefferson, Jr. was born February 15, 1965, in Orangeburg County SC. The Lord called her to eternal rest on Monday, June 17, 2024.
At an early age Delphine joined Ebenezer Zion A.M.E Church. She was educated in the Berkeley County School System, graduating from Cross High School in 1983.
After graduating, Delphine worked at Skyline Sewing Center in Holly Hill, SC and Berkeley Manufacturing in Moncks Corner, SC.
In 1989, Delphine married her High School sweetheart, Horace McCray. She was the nurturing mother to their two children. Delphine was also Known for making the best Crab Salad.
Delphine was preceded in death by her grandparents, Benjamin (Rena) Jefferson, Sr., Wesley (Trena Bell) Gilliard, her in-laws, Aaron (Vermel) McCray Sr., her brother Lawton Gavin.
She leaves the following persons to cherish her beloved memories: her devoted and loving husband, Horace McCray; daughter, Portia Shayvonia McCray; son, Tremaine Darnell McCray all of the home; her parents, Benjamin (Carrie) Jefferson, Jr.; sister, Jacqueline Jefferson all of Cross, SC; brothers, Bernard Jefferson of Summerville, SC and Timothy (Wendi) Jefferson of Ridgeville, SC; adopted sister, Carolyn Clark of Cross, SC; adopted brother, Julius Gilliard of Cross, SC; six sisters-in-law, Tomasina (Ralph) Register and Vanessa McCray both of Donalsonville, GA, Gwen (Alton) Pringle of Ridgeville, SC, Rosalee McCray of Cross, SC, Christina Benekin and Barbara (Thomas) Dawson both of Pineville, SC; two brothers-in-law, Aaron McCray, Jr. of Cross, SC and Kenneth (Jennifer) McCray of Sacramento, CA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, and friends.
