Della Ashby Brailsford

The Lord has called home a beautiful new angel.

Mrs. Della Mae Ashby-Brailsford was born October 5th, 1940 in Eutawville, South Carolina to Elouise Dingle-Ashby and George Ashby. she spent 79 years on earth filled with love. As a child she loved to ride horses and dance to all kinds of music. She was the 2nd child of 7 children, Frank (Boogie), Ernest, Jeffrey, Maryann, Curtis (Buzzie) and Albert {Tony).

Della moved to New York City to begin an awesome abundant life and to help her parents in the late 1960's. When she moved to Brooklyn, NY she met and then married the late Morris Brailsford, Sr., where they had a loving marriage of 33 years until his passing. Della began her courses to become a certified Nurses Aide after she had her first child. She was called to duty at The  Brooklyn Veterans Hospital when her 2nd child was 6 months old and then later was assigned to The Bronx Veteran's Hospital after her 3rd child was 4 years old, where she retired with a 30 year career of service. Della's life long friends and co-workers always enjoyed her smile along with her laugh as they now speak of how much she will be missed by many.     

Della is survived by her 3 children: Morris B. Brailsford, Jr., Marcella Brailsford-Abney, Darnell Brailsford, son-in-law Terrence Abney, daughter-in-law Jackie Morrison-Brailsford, grandson Morris Jarrod Brailsford, III, granddaughter Xavia Morrison-Adams, grandson-in-law James Adams, 2 great grandsons Bryce Adams and Jaden Adams, 4 sister-in-laws Sarah Barber, Catherine Blanding, Mazie James, Cynthia Ashby, 2 siblings Maryann Ashby and Jeffrey Ashby along with a host of amazing nieces, nephews  and cousins.
