Deacon Oscar Cash, Sr.

Oscar Cash, Sr was born August 2, 1931, to Otway Cash and Ethel Glover Cash in Eutawville, South Carolina who preceded him in eternal life. Oscar Cash, Sr. entered into eternal life peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023, while at home. 

Oscar was a military veteran and served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a member of the Eutawville Memorial Veteran of Foreign War Post 6738 located in Eutawville, South Carolina.

He then entered civilian work with the Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston, South Carolina where he received numerous recognitions and honors for services rendered.  He retired in 1995 after 30 years.

Oscar and the late Cynthia Carolina Davis Cash united in Holy Matrimony in 1956 and they were married for 46 years. Oscar was the proud father of four children, Jerome Glover, Oscar Cash, Jr., Cynthia Cash-Greene, and Valeria Cash Rhinehart. 

Oscar was a devoted Christian and served as a member of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, Ordained in 1986, church secretary, male choir president, church sexton, Sunday school teacher, and Mason 4402 Chaplain. Oscar's favorite scripture is Psalm 121: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help..."

Oscar was recognized by several organizations for his services, integrity, generosity, and support to the youth. He was an icon in the community and served others with fresh vegetables from his garden. Several honors and recognition included State Senate District 39 Resolution; Department of the Air Force Awards; United States Army Freedom Team Awards, Lake Marion Army JROTC Award as the oldest Veteran in 2022, Spring Hill Male Chorus recognition, and  Spring Hill Sunbeam Choir recognition for his unwavering support.

Oscar leaves to honor his memory: Four children, Jerome Glover (Dorothy); Rev. Oscar Cash, Jr. (Judy); Cynthia Cash-Greene, and Valerie Cash Rhinehart (Robert); Siblings: Carolyn James (Jeff); Henrietta Gadson; and Shirley Simmons; Five (5) grandchildren- Sonya Glover Goodwin, Katrina Shaw, Otway Cash, Lenwood Greene, Andrew Greene; Great Grandchildren, Sisters-in-law, Zadre V. Davis, Bessie L. Davis, and Mattie Davis Greene, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. One brother, Roosevelt Cash preceded him in death.

We profess today that Dad knew God and trust him with his life.
