Charlie High, Sr

Bro. Charlie High, Sr., 32 ⁰ formerly of Eutawville, South Carolina departed his life on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in Buford, Georgia. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and CDC Guidelines and Recommendations, the family requests that friends and family refrain from visiting them at the residence. But, keep them in your prayers. 

Brother Charlie High, Sr., was born on August 6, 1942 in Eutawville, SC to the late Mr. and Mrs. James “Moody” High, Sr. (Bess Rivers High). On August 19, 2020, Mr. High transition to his final resting place. 

Charlie Married Betty Ann Brunson on September 28, 1967 and they would have been married 53 years in September.

He attended the Eutawville and Holly Hill school systems throughout his elementary and high school years. He worked his young adult years as a truck driver and a steel worker. Mr. High later started his construction company in 1973. He partner with his beloved eldest brother Elijah High, Sr. He retired in 2001.

Brother Charlie High, Sr., 32⁰ was a member for over 40 years of the following: Eutawville Lodge #402 Prince Hall Free & Accepted Masons. Robert Shaw-Wilkinson Consistory #202 Orangeburg, S.C.A.A.S.R., PHA Southern Jurisdiction, USA, Inc. Jeddah Temple # 160 Oasis of Orangeburg. Desert of South Carolina A.E.A.O.N.M.S. P.H.A. Mr. High has been a member of Silas United Methodist Church all of his life (78 years) . He was also a member of Eutawville Branch NAACP, Concerned Citizens of District 66 as well as Black Farmers Association of Orangeburg County 

Charlie was a loving husband and father and had an awesome work ethic. He shared relentlessly with everyone with whatever he had.He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Ann Brunson High; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James and Bess High; son, Mr. Walter L. High, Sr.; daughter, Ms. Katrina Brown; grandson, Mr. Walter L. High; brothers, Mr. Elijah High, Sr. and Mr. Harte “Archie” High, Sr.; sisters, Mrs. Sarah Williams and Mrs. Dorothy High; brothers-in-law, Henry “Harry” Gathers, Mr. Roger “Peter” Brunson, and Mr. James Abraham; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary B. Guest-Fogle, Mrs. Carolyn W. Brunson, and Mrs. Audrey Brunson; and daughter-in-law, Mrs. LaTasha High.

Charlie leaves to cherish his fond memories, daughter, Ms. Carol A. High; sons, Mr. Charlie High, Jr., Mr. Karl High, and Mr. Joey D. Smalls (Tremaine); twenty-seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brother, Mr. James (Rose) High, Jr., sisters, Mrs. Annie Lee Shelton, Mrs. Betty D. Gathers, and Mrs. Mazie M. Benjiman (Melvin); sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edna M. Abraham, Mrs. Ruthie High, and Mrs. Willie High; brothers-in-law, Mr. Leroy (Bertha) Brunson, Sr., Rev. William (Industry) Brunson, Mr. Joseph (Anna) Brunson, Sr., Mr. Burley Brunson, Mr. Adam Brunson, and Mr. Mallie Williams, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
