On Friday, November 19, 2021, Brenda Lee Pinckney, peacefully went home to be with the Lord. Brenda entered into this life on April 5, 1961. She was a member of Ebenezer Zion AME Church in Holly Hill, South Carolina, and sang on the young adult choir.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. Ernest Pinckney, Jr. and Elizabeth Gillard Pinckney, who she leaves to cherish her fond memories. Brenda had the sweetest spirit and a wonderful personality that everyone loved. Brenda was a very humble person and such a giver to all she came in contact with. She never met a stranger, and to know her was to love her. She will truly be missed by all who love her, truly another chain has been broken in our family. 

Brenda graduated from Cross High School in 1979 and went on to further her education at South Carolina State University in Computer Science. Brenda moved to Hempstead, New York, where she resided for many years. She was married to Christopher Dettey-Wood and to this union they were blessed with two beautiful children. Brenda returned home from New York after many years and started working at Dollar Tree in Goose Creek, SC. She became a manager and just received her twenty-year service award.

She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Darryl Earnest Nana Kwesi Dettey-Wood of East Hampton, Connecticut and one daughter, Ciera Ruby Adjoa Dettey-Wood of Clinton, Connecticut.

Franklin (Edith) Gillard of Summerville, SC, Charles (Louvenia) Pinckney, Louise (Harry Lee) Ravenell, Shelia (Willie) Fuller all of Cross, SC, Earnestine (George) Fuller of Santee, SC, Calvin (Maryann) Pinckney, Marilyn (Jerry) Sweatman of Cross, SC, Sarah (Wilburt) Walker of Summerville, SC, Troy Pinckney, Deborah (Esaias) Jackson of Cross, SC, one Goddaughter, Camala Cielita Pinckney; and four of her niece's children who she called her Grand-babies, Essence, Clifford (CJ), Ezra and Bella Perry; Dijon Brown, Antawne Ravenel and Omerick Green, who she loved like her children; and a host of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
