Mrs. Betty Ann High was born Betty Ann Brunson on March 4, 1945 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Blondell Washington) Brunson. On March 2, 2020, the Lord called Betty Ann to rest.
Betty Ann married Charlie High, Sr. on September 28, 1967 and they would have been married for 53 years in September.
She was a graduate of Roberts High School and worked as the Secretary for several years with the family own Construction Business (Charlie High Construction). She also worked many years at the voting precincts in Orangeburg County.
She was a Daughter of Jeddah Court No. 86 of Orangeburg, South Carolina, member of Eutawville Branch of the NAACP, Eutawville Branch Concern Citizens, as well as The Ladies of La Vogue Social Club.
She grew up as a member of Target A.M.E. Church and after marriage joined Silas United Methodist Church. She served numerous years as a faithful and dedicated member of both the Usher Board and the Choir.
Betty had a pleasant smile and peaceful spirit that always invoke presented optimism in anything that life brought her way.
She is preceded in death by her phenomenal grandmother, Mrs. Pauline K. Washington, who raised her and her siblings; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Blondell Brunson; son, Mr. Walter L. High, Sr.; grandson, Mr. Walter L. High; brother, Mr. Roger “Peter” Brunson; sister, Mrs. Mary B. Guest-Fogle; daughter-in-law, Mrs. LaTasha High; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn W. Brunson, Mrs. Audrey Brunson, and Mrs. Sarah Williams; brothers-in-law, Mr. Elijah High, Sr., Mr. Harte “Archie” High, Sr., and Henry “Harry” Gathers; step-daughter, Ms. Katrina Brown; and niece, Ms. Blondell Brunson.
Betty leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband, Mr. Charlie High, Sr.; daughter, Ms. Carol A. High; sons, Mr. Charlie High, Jr. and Mr. Karl High; stepson, Mr. Joey D. Smalls (Tremaine); twenty-six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Edna M. Abraham; brothers, Mr. Leroy (Bertha) Brunson, Sr., Rev. William (Industry) Brunson, Mr. Joseph (Anna) Brunson, Sr., Mr. Burley Brunson, and Adam Brunson; brothers-in-law, Mr. James (Rose) High, Mr. Mallie Williams, Sr., and Mr. James Abraham; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Annie Lee Shelton, Mrs. Ruthie High, Mrs. Willie High, Mrs. Betty D. Gathers, and Mrs. Mazie M. Benjiman (Melvin); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
