It is with Profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Bertha Lee Johnson, 61, of Ridgeville, South Carolina, who transitioned on Friday, April 26, 2024, at MUSC Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina.

Bertha Lee Johnson was born June 20, 1962 to the late Buster and Geneva Johnson and was reared by her grandparents, the late Ernest and Satira Gethers. She departed this life on Friday, April 26, 2024 at MUSC Medical Center at 2:30 p.m.
Bertha grew up in Cross, South Carolina. She accepted Christ and early age at Antioch Holiness Church. She graduated from Cross High School in June of 1981.
Bertha met Martell Johnson in 1994 and on June 22, 1996 they were joined in holy wedlock. After marriage she became a member of Poplar Hill Christian Church. She was a member of the Usher Board and the communion committee.
Before she grew ill she was employed by Trident Medical Center and was a dedicated caregiver. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with family.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Buster and Geneva Johnson; her grandparents, Ernest and Satira Gethers; her brothers, Leroy Johnson and Eddie Johnson; her sister, Victoria Jones; and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Berkeley & Eartha Lee Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted husband of 27 years, Martell Johnson; her children, Lakivina Johnson and Bradley Johnson; her siblings, Sandra (David) Thompson, Ernest Johnson both of Cross, SC, Tommie (Beverly) Johnson of Goose Creek, SC and Cornelius (Tina) Johnson of Cross SC; brother-in-law, Leroy (the late Victoria) Jones of Cross, SC; her sisters-in-law, Shanea (Kevin) Watley of Orangeburg, SC and Joyce Johnson of Pineville, SC; her aunts and uncles, Virginia (Jessie) Reid, Carrie Lee (Raymond) Wright, Louise (Silas) Sanders, Ernestine (Samuel) Gaddist, the late James (Rebecca) Gethers, and Anna Mariah (the late George) Wigfall all of Cross, SC; special friends, Saundra Wigfall, Luretha Sumpter, and Regina Collier; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
