                                                                                 LIFE REFLECTIONS

Deaconess Alice Wright (Monkey) Blanchard, daughter of Van Wright Sr. and Quinnie (Maggie) Waring Wright was born November 18, 1928 in Vance, South Carolina.  God called her spirit home to be with him throughout eternity on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Regional Medical Center. Monkey, as she was affectionately known, attended Bull School in Vance.  She was a virtuous woman who instill in her children the importance of God and family.  Alice attended all family reunions because she felt deep in heart the connection of being around family and friends.

She accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a member of Springfield Baptist Church in July 1944 where she served faithfully.  Alice was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Eutaw Chapter #324 and the Sons and Daughter of Job.

She was united in marriage on April 5, 1947 to James Blanchard Sr.  This union was blessed for 69 years.   They were blessed with sixteen children. Twin sons, Esau and Jacob Blanchard died during infancy and Joseph and Ella Blanchard died in 2017 and 2018.  Alice was also predeceased in death by two grandsons Eric Blanchard and W. Sheldon Davis, a brother Joseph Wright, four sisters Rosa Bell Sinkler, Willie Mae Bannister, Alberta Carlton and Thelma Washington, her sister in laws, Katie Devoe, Annie Bell Harris and Maggie Smalls.Alice will forever be remembered by her children, James (Margaret) Blanchard Jr. of Miami Florida; Minnie Jenkins of Eutawville, SC, Florence Blanchard of Bronx, New York; Alice (Joe) Brothers of Hardeeville SC; Viola Woodley of Eutawville, SC; Curtis Blanchard of Eutawville SC; Marvin (Debra) Blanchard of Eutawville; Juanetha Blanchard of Eutawville, SC; Karen Jefferies of Miami, Florida; Charles Blanchard and Anderia (Ann) Blanchard of the home, and Rev. Vernon Blanchard of Elloree SC. her siblings: Laura Marin of New York, New York, Maggie Montgomery of Yonkers, New York; Van (Julia) Wright Jr. of Lakeland Florida and Quinnie (Jack) Mack of Eutawville, South Carolina.Alice is also survived by special children who she reared as her own; Betty Jamison, Linda Jenkins, Robert Jamison, Nancy Wilson, and Clarence Jamison. 40 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
