Alfreda "Freda" Simmons

Mrs. Alfreda "Freda" Simmons, transitioned from this life on Friday, January 14, 2022. Alfreda was born on September 23, 1957, to the late Katie Mae Simmons and the late Ben Simmons.

Freda grew up in Far Rockaway, New York, and attended public schools. At an early age, Alfreda joined St. John's Baptist Church in Far Rockaway, New York, and was a member of the young adult choir. In 1981 she was joined in matrimony to Godfrey Young and to this union one son was born. She moved to Eutawville, South Carolina in 1985 to be closer to her parents. She later moved between the Carolinas and New York to further her career as a home aid specialist. She retired in 2018 and moved back to Eutawville, South Carolina.

To know Freda was to love her. She always brought joy and laughter to all her family and friends. She was one of true wisdom and understanding. There was nothing that you could express to her that she did not understand.

Alfreda leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Jamel Young of Ridgecrest, CA; three brothers, Andrew (Nancy) Simmons of Malverne, NewYork; Ralph (Benita) Simmons of Cambia Heights, New York; Benjamin (Vernae) Simmons of Eutawvile, South Carolina, and one sister, Linder Glover of Eutawville, South Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
