Abraham Bennett Obituary

Abraham Bennett was born to the late Joseph Bennett and the late Eliza Wigfall Bennett on August 18, 1943, in Cross, South Carolina. Abraham departed this world and transitioned into his final rest on November 20, 2022. He was the second-born child from this union. He was raised and educated in the Berkeley County area. He joined Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church at an early age.

He then moved to Baltimore, Maryland as an early adult before moving to New York. In New York, he became skilled in many areas, and he would spread his wisdom with any and everyone. While living in New York, Abraham became a member of the Second Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was a man of few words; Abe would never let you know how he felt in words but with his with actions. The airport pickup, school pickup/drop off, eggnog. and cooking were a few of the things he would do just because. Abraham had a genuine heart, not someone who wanted attention or the spotlight. He preferred to be in the background, as a contributor and facilitator.

Abraham, fondly known as Abe, Snooky, and Mudcat, held many titles in his life, but his favorite roles were being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He worked many jobs to support his family, but he primarily worked for Kinney Parking until he retired. He retired at an early age due to medical reasons. This is when he started to enjoy his time with his family and friends. His primary and only vacationing spot was coming to his homeland, Cross, South Carolina. He and his wife eventually moved to South Carolina and life began again for him reconnecting with old family members and friends. He was more than happy to spend time with his grandchild during the summers and holidays. He then joined Zion United Methodist Church,

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eliza Bennett, his brother, Joseph "Nolan" Bennett, and his sister, Patricia "Becka" Cobb.

Abraham leaves to cherish his loving and caring spirit and the kindhearted manner in the lives of all of those that he touched. His memories will continue to live on in his loving and devoted wife, Lucy (also known as Joyce), and his children, Christopher Thomas of Maryland, Anita Bennett of South Carolina, and Lushone Bennett (Juanita) of Illinois, grandchildren, Donovan, Gabrielle, Shacoya, Clara, Chris, his sisters, Sara Bennett of New York, and Wilhelmenia Bennett of Florida, brother-in-law (who was more like a brother), Peterson (Rachel) of South Carolina, his sisters-in-law, Azalee President, Jestine Richburg, Ruth Johnson, all of South Carolina, one uncle, Leroy (Sarah) Bennett f New York and a multitude of nieces and nephews who were more like extended children to him.
