Wilhelmenia Brown Casey, the daughter of the late Deacon Ed and Annie Brown was born on May 10, 1939. She was called from her earthly labor to her heavenly reward on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Roper St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.
During her early age she attended Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Eutawville, South Carolina and later joined Jehovah A.M.E. Church and served on the Senior Choir and other auxiliaries of the church. She was also crowned as Mother-Of-The-Year 2004 - 2005. She attended Central High School in Cross, South Carolina and upon graduating she moved to New York City for 2 years. Later she returned home working as a babysitter. Her favorite hobbies were singing and cooking.
She was joined in Holy Wedlock to the late Lawton Casey, Jr. into this union they were blessed with four boys and three girls: Robert (Diane) Brown of Cross, SC, James (Rhonda) Casey, Leon (Ann) Casey of Summerville, SC Gloria Simmons (The Late Isaac Simmons) of Eutawville, SC, Jerry Casey of Alameda, CA, Rainy Casey of Cross, SC and Barbara (Herman) Pinckney of Cross, SC.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Annie Brown; her brothers, Christopher Spann, Elder Frank Brown, and John Henry Brown; one sister, Bertha ‘Mae’ Prioleau; one sister-in-law, Gloriann Williams; and one brother-in-law, George Casey.
She leaves to cherish the memories: three sisters, Ruth Spann of Cross, SC, Frances Brown Darby of Pineville, SC and Carrie Lee Brown of Pineville, SC; one brother, Leroy E. Brown of Bronx, New York; five sisters-in-law, Harriet ‘Mae’ Levine of New Jersey, Queen Esther Williams of Charleston, SC, Rainy Nelson of Cross, SC, Gloria McNeil of Cross, SC, and Estelle Walker of Charleston SC; seventeen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
