Sarah Davis Obituary

Sarah ‘Carolyn’ Jefferson Davis was born to the late Frank Jefferson, Jr. and Lillian Durant Jefferson on July 1, 1949 in Orangeburg County. She was reared in Vance, South Carolina and was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County.

Carolyn was employed at The Tasty Twirl in Eutawville for several years. Later on, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. George ‘Charlie’ Davis and their union was blessed with eight children. Carolyn traveled with her late husband Charlie Davis for many years from New York to Ocala, Florida where they lived from 1983 to present. She worked at Sonny's BBQ of Ocala, Florida for many years. Carolyn was also employed at the Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Florida for 15 years from where she retired.

Carolyn was a dedicated member of the Greater Apostolic Outreach Holy Church of God Incorporated in Ocala, Florida. She worked faithfully doing a great work for the Lord. She loved serving the Lord, loved talking about her Lord and Savior, and she loved her church family. She worked faithfully as a pastor's aide and a prayer warrior. She served as a spiritual mother in the church and a friend to many in the congregation, feeding the hungry every Wednesday.

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who gave her family genuine tough love and spiritual guidance. She loved her family and always wanted the best for all of them. She always wanted them to succeed in life and she taught with much wisdom. She often traveled back and forth from Florida to South Carolina to take care of her family. Carolyn loved praising the Lord and she fought a good fight and kept the faith until the end. She had a “heart of gold.” She was a good encourager and she loved to laugh and sit with family and talk about the good old days. Overall Carolyn was a beautiful down to Earth person, who will surely be missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Thomas ‘Charlie’ Davis; and her grandson, Kendrick Washington.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Jacqueline (Charles) Dove, Ployce Davis, Darrell (Margaret) Davis, Sharon (Jammie) Willis, Michael (Priscilla) Davis, Katina (Joseph) Davis, Stella, Jackson, and Markeal (Trence) Davis; her siblings, Bobby (Lorraine) Jefferson of Eutawville, SC, Shirley (Ernest) Asbury of Vance, SC, Barbara (Jessie) Dubose of Orangeburg, SC, and Darlene of Santee, SC, Joanne of Vance, SC, and Pamela (Tukumbo) Howell of Vance, SC; in-laws, Henrietta Lawrence, John Henry (Rose) Davis, Hermie (Albertha) Davis, Annie Ruth Davis Muhaymin, Louise Davis, Marshall (Kisha) Davis, Sadie (Lebrons) Brown, Annie Bell Davis (Stanley) Wright, and Stormy Davis; special friends, Marie Rivers, Rubine, Morris Watson, Chris, Mae, and Marvin and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.
