Robersine Singleton Obituary

Mrs. Robersine M. Singleton, daughter of Carrie Mitchum and the late Ben Mitchum and Lily Mae Smalls and the Late Robert Nesbitt, was born February 28, 1950 in Eutawville, SC, and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her home.

She grew up in Eutawville, SC, attended the public schools in Holly Hill, SC, a graduate of the Roberts High School Class of 1968, and a 1972 graduate of Claflin University. She was a dedicated teacher throughout Orangeburg County District III schools for thirty years and played a major role in the lives of so many students.

Her favorite quote was "excuses only satisfied those who make them."

Robersine was a faithful member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the following ministries: Educational Ministry, Church Anniversary Committee, Newspaper Staff, assisted with Orangeburg County Voter's Registration, and the Mass Choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband the late Charles Tony Singleton.

Rob (as she was affectionately called by many) leaves to cherish her loving memories, her mother’s: Carrie Mitchum and Lily Mae Smalls; one son, Christopher Singleton of Eutawville, SC; daughter, Sharon Williams of Atlanta, GA; sisters: Mabel (Wesley) Williams of Vance, SC, Betsy (Lewis) Nelson of Bronx, NY, and Martha Halls of Irvington, NJ; brothers: Harold (Jennifer) Mitchum of Baltimore, MD, Moses (Louise) Mitchum of Englewood, NJ, Leroy Mitchell of Philadelphia, PA, Roosevelt Brown of Brooklyn, NY, and John (Anna) Smalls of Cross, SC; a precious granddaughter, Serenity Singleton of Henderson, NC; one brother-in-law, William Mikell of Bronx, NY; a loving aunt: Virginia Smalls; caring uncles: Leroy (Mozell) Brown, Paul (Anita) Brown, Moses (Shirley) Brown, James (Bertha) Sanders, and Albert (Lillie) Smalls; two beloved friends, Bernice Pelzer and Deloris Dawson; a dear caretaker, Earnestine Crowder; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
