Linnea Theirse Obituary

Linnea was born on January 18, 1962 in Pineville, SC to the late Leroy & Lottie Smalls. She departed this life on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at MUSC Hospital.

Linnea graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1980. She later attended Columbia Junior College and received her Associate's degree in Business Management. Linnea was employed at St. Stephen Middle School for 25 years. While employed with Berkeley County School District, she was a cheer coach from 1992 to 1998. Linnea also served as an advisor for the middle school's chapter of FBLA and track coach fir Bell & Schlau.

Linnea accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and joined Day Dawn Baptist Church where she served on the youth choir, youth ministry and junior usher board.

Linnea met the love of her life O'Toole "Dino" Theirse and married him on September 5, 1987. They were blessed with four wonderful children, one that preceded her in death, Faith Sheree Theirse.

Linnea was a sweet, loving and caring person. She enjoyed working with children and she was a mother figure to many. Her motto will always live on "stay humble in life."

For six years, Linnea battled a lung disease known as Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was a champion and warrior full of strength. Her goal was to bring awareness to this disease by sharing her story. The wrist band is worn to signify the HOPE she gives us, the COURAGE to move on and now she walks along with FAITH. Linnea left us with these profound words, "I am a miracle and the writings on the wall.'

She is preceded in death by: St. Julian Smalls, Mattie Mae Lipscomb, Benjamin White, Ruth Ann Henry, Lily Mae Johnson, Robersean Ethel Theirse (mother-in-law).

Linnea leaves to cherish her loving memories; her husband, O'Toole Theirse, her caring children, Shakara (Asa) Parks, Brianna Blair, Da'Vante Theirse and Trevin Theirse, her step-daughter, Stefanie (Jessie) Taylor of Bessemer, AL, two grandchildren, Ayden Parks and Zion Taylor, her siblings, Viola Griffith of Maiden, NC, Harry Lee (Ann) Smalls of Irvington, NJ, Jerome (Hannah) Smalls, Noel Smalls, Henry (Debra) Smalls of Pineville, SC, Albert (Gwen) Smalls of Moncks Corner, SC, Renee Smalls of Keasbey, NJ, her sisters and brothers in law, Clarence Henry of St. Stephen, SC, Mary Lee White of Pineville, SC, Kathleen Brown, Mary Jenkins, Evelyn Theirse, Renia Pringle of Pineville, SC, Agness (Steve) Eason, Gardean Theirse of New York, Marlyn Coleman, Teara Jenkins, Jacquline Jenkins, David Jenkins Jr. of Bronx, NY, Tyrone (Shanay) Jenkins of Portsmith, VA, Annette Taylor of Jamestown, SC, Annette Bennett of McDonough, GA, Sharon (Derrick) Daniels of Moncks Corner, SC, Denise Scott of St. Stephen, SC, her aunts, Ruth Butler of Pineville, SC, Althea Butler of Tampa, FL, her uncle, Henry (Emma) Butler of Columbia, SC, her godson, Shanard Smalls of Pineville and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
