Mrs. Ida Enda Myers Brooks, the daughter of the late Fred and Madeline Myers, was born April 27, 1934 in Orangeburg County. She peacefully entered her heavenly home on May 6, 2018.
Ida attended the Orangeburg County schools and graduated from Wilkinson High School. After graduation she moved to New York City. There she attended Mercer County Technical School, Trenton New Jersey as a nursing student. She was employed as a Nursing Assistant at Merritt Nursing Home.
Ida returned to Orangeburg, S.C. in 1975 and was employed at The Council on Aging as a Home Maker. She later was employed at OCAB as a Senior Companion. After retiring, Ida became a volunteer worker at TRMC. There she worked until her health failed.
At any early age, she attended Andrew Chapel Baptist Church. After returning to South Carolina, Ida attended St. Paul Baptist Church. Later in life she became a member of Stand for Christ Church where she served faithfully as a Missionary, The Women’s Auxiliary, and served as Mother of the Church. She also attended New Beginning Out Reach Ministry Church and served as a Missionary and Mother of the Church.
Ida was married to the late Leroy Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, Willie and Edna Reed; and two brothers; Willie Myers and Fred Myers Jr.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, two sons: Timothy Brooks and Titus Johnson both of Orangeburg, SC; two daughters, Deborah Brooks and Tissany Brooks both of Orangeburg, SC; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
