Hercules Stinson Obituary

- THE LEGACY OF HERCULES 'SQUEAKY' STINSON -

“The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want”

                                                                                                Psalm 23

Mrs. Hercules Sumpter Stinson, was the daughter of the late Mr. Herbert Lee Gadson and Ms. Leila Mae Sumpter, was born on July 17, 1957 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She transitioned on October 26, 2018 at her residence.

Hercules grew up in the Santee and Vance Communities where she was affectionately known as Squeaky to her family and friends. She was educated in the Orangeburg County public schools, where she graduated in 1975 from Roberts-High School in Holly Hill, South Carolina. Hercules was dedicated to any task at hand, whether it was family, friends, or career related. In fact, she had two careers until her untimely death. She was employed for many years with Indian River School District as a Teacher’s Assistant and Florida Baptist Retirement Center as a Dietary Aide, both in Vero Beach, Florida.

During her early life, Hercules attended Live Oak African Methodist Episcopal Church, in Vance, South Carolina, until she relocated to Vero Beach, Florida. In Vero Beach, Florida, Squeaky made a life for herself; a life that she was proud of and brought her many memories.

Hercules was united in marriage to Tommey Lee Stinson. This union was blessed with two children.

Mrs. Stinson was a God-fearing, strong, caring, loving, and fun person. She truly enjoyed life. She was a fabulous cook and gracious hostess who enjoyed entertaining. She was a conversationalist with a great sense of humor. Her mind was as sharp as her heart was deep. She will truly be missed, especially by her family and loved ones. She has left impressionable memories upon all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Lee Gadson, a brother, Roosevelt Sumpter, a sister, Dorothy Macham, and a granddaughter, DaKota Baker.

Hercules leaves her unprecedented legacy of love, laugh, and faith to her loving and devoted family: her husband, Tommey Lee Stinson of the home; one son, Tommy Ricardo Stinson and one daughter Sloan Stinson, both of Vero Beach, Florida; two stepdaughters, Tarsha Stinson and Tomisha Stinson, both of Vero Beach, Florida; her mother, Leila Mae Sumpter, of Vance, South Carolina; seven sisters, Beatrice Sumpter, Ella Mae Sumpter, Sarah Jane Canty, Lourine Pringle, Shirley Sumpter, Geneva Sumpter, all of Vance, South Carolina, and Glinnie Gibbs of Eutawville, South Carolina; two brothers, Willie Sumpter of Wabasso, Florida and Herbert Sumpter of Vance, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Gracie and Linda Stinson, both of Wabasso, Florida; one brother-in-law, Roy Stinson, of Eutawville, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Tomez Stinson and Cordell Baker, both of Vero, Beach, Florida; one special son: Corey Baker, of Vero Beach, Florida; seven special grandchildren: Cassidy Baker, Gerrielle Barron, Deonja Collins, Quentin Gonzalez, Mercy Stinson, Quenaja Stuckey, and Kejuan Wynn, all of Vero Beach, Florida; Special Nieces and Nephews: Christa and Shamekia Baker, both of Vance, South Carolina, RaShaun Pringle and Durward Sumpter, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jonathan Sumpter, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
